WhatsApp now hides online status by default from strangers

WhatsApp now hides your online status by default from strangers:

WhatsApp is most using messaging app in the world.

Unfortunately, that comes with many security issues, including strangers tracking your online status. Happily, the company makes your online status automatically hidden.

According to WABetaInfo, both Android and iOS WhatsApp apps will make your "last-seen" status visible only to your contacts.

In the past, anyone could see when you were online, which made it easier for strangers to spy on you. This change provides an excellent additional layer of security for users of the chat app.

Changing the visibility of your online status only to contacts is not new. The change is that it will now be automatic, which means you won't have to go to app settings to hide your online status from strangers.

Instead, you will need to go to settings if you want to let everyone see whether you are online or not.

There are all apps designed to use online publicly available online features from WhatsApp to track users, so thank you that those apps will be made void with this change.

This is a great change for WhatsApp. It will make using the app more secure without removing any important functionality from its users.
